MICE-1 nanosatellite, is getting ready for launch by Prisma Electronics

At Prisma Electronics’ industrial facility in Alexandroupolis, the final preparations are being completed for MICE-1, the Greek nanosatellite entirely designed, developed, and manufactured by Prisma Electronics.
MICE-1 is now headed to Berlin, where it will be integrated into a launch pod before being delivered to SpaceX for launch on October 1st, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. (Greek time).
The development of MICE-1 (Maritime Identification & Communication systEm - 1) is part of the National Microsatellite Program led by the Greek Ministry of Digital Governance, under the supervision of the ESA - European Space Agency. Prisma Electronics is solely responsible for the satellite’s design, implementation, and operational deployment.
A result of two years of technological development, MICE-1 integrates advanced technologies in: sensing systems, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), cybersecurity.
The nanosatellite will provide:
- Collection of AIS and LAROS data for environmental and maritime monitoring
- Data processing using machine learning algorithms
- Encrypted real-time data management
On the morning of Monday, July 28, 2025, the production facility welcomed and briefed several key officials about the mission: Mr. Christodoulos Topsidis, Governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Mr. Yiannis Zampoukis, Mayor of Alexandroupolis, Lieutenant General Panagiotis Kavidopoulos, Commander of the D Army Corps, Major General Ioannis Kostoulas, Deputy Commander of the D Army Corps, Brigadier General Ilias Tsevdos, Deputy Commander of the 12th Division, Mr. Christos Axis, Police Director of Alexandroupolis, Commander Rallou Ouzounoglou, Head of the Alexandroupolis Port Authority and Fire Chief Paschalis Chourteroudis, Director of the Evros Fire Services.
All praised the Prisma team for this technological milestone and expressed their full support for the mission’s success.
The launch of MICE-1 marks a milestone for Prisma Electronics as a key player in Greece’s space technology sector, contributing to resilient infrastructure, sustainable maritime operations, and laying the foundation for a future constellation of Greek nanosatellites.
The countdown has begun. MICE-1 by Prisma Electronics is ready to carve its own path in space.
